Whitianga Tours and Taxi

Taxi Loyalty Scheme

Earn free rides with us!

Just like those cards you might already have in your wallet to collect stamps in your favourite café or restaurant.

Every time you complete a taxi ride with us, you receive a stamp. When you have collected ten stamps, we will reward you with a free ride.

You can get a paper card from us for your convenience and to make it easier to track your progress, however your stamps are recorded electronically in your personal account. This happens normally within 24 hours of you having completed a taxi ride with us, and you will receive an update by email (important though: you need to let the driver know that you have a loyalty account with us).

All you need to do is fill in the application form, we will create your account, and your next ride will earn your first stamp towards a free taxi ride - it's that simple!

We promise, there is no catch - it's easy, it's free, and your personal information is safe. By joining you do however accept our scheme's terms and conditions, as outlined below.
The following questions and answers about Whitianga Tours and Taxi's Loyalty Scheme essentially form the scheme's terms and conditions:
What exactly is this?
Whitianga Tours and Taxi's Loyalty Scheme is a reward programme for their taxi customers (i.e. people using our local Whitianga taxi zone service). Every eligible ride will be recorded on the customer's account. After every ten recorded rides (stamps) the customer will receive a free taxi ride.
How does it work?
Every time you complete an eligible ride using our local taxi service and present your loyalty scheme membership card or details to us and / or the driver, you will be awarded one electronic stamp which is added to your loyalty account.
What trips are eligible for stamps?
Any single trip involving our Whitianga taxi zones A to C, plus all other locations zoned in the TaxiCaller app as shown below (currently zones 1 to 20), earns you one electronic stamp.
Do all stamps have the same value?
No. One ride earns you one stamp, and its value is equal to the fare you were charge for that ride (excluding any tip you might have given). The value of your reward ticket (called e-ticket) will be calculated based on the average value of all ten stamps on the card, to a maximum of $50.
What rewards can I get?
We will reward you with a free taxi ride in form of an "e-ticket". The value of an e-ticket ranges from minimum $6 to $50 maximum.
How many stamps do I need to get a free ride?
You need to collect 10 stamps. You get one stamp per ride, so your eleventh ride is free.
Do my stamps expire?
Yes, after 6 months, but only if you do not use our service for a period of 6 months. You will be informed by email before your stamps are due to expire.
How do I join?
Just fill in the online application form, and we will set you up.
Who can join?
Anyone over the age of 16 who is in New Zealand at the time of enrolment can join.
Will I receive a loyalty card?
As per request from many customers, we do now supply "real" paper cards in addition to the electronic account. However, these cards (which are also available in our taxi) are only valid in conjunction with an active account, on which your stamps will be recorded electronically. That's why you need an account set up with us first.
How does the driver know that I am part of the scheme?
When you book or hail a taxi with us, you need to tell us / the driver that you collect our stamps, or show them your card - just like you need to present your stamp card elsewhere in order to have them stamped. We will look up your account and add the electronic stamp to your account within 24 hours of you completing your ride with us.
Can I check my stamp balance online?
Unfortunately this is not possible. We will however send you an email or text message whenever your stamp balance has changed to keep you up to date. We will also inform you once you have reached ten stamps and an e-ticket has been issued.
How will you use my personal information?
All your personal information will only be used in relation with our business (Whitianga Tours and Taxi, formerly Coromandel Nature Tours). We might occasionally send you an email or text message with news from us or special offers, but we will not spam you. You can opt out of receiving these any time. We will not pass on any of your personal information to other businesses.
Is my loyalty card transferable?
No, the card is under your name. However, you can register a second person to your account and start collecting stamps together.
Can my e-ticket be used by another person?
Yes, it can. Every e-ticket has its unique code which can only be used once, but it is not linked to your name. You may pass the code of your e-ticket on for another person to use. For this reason we recommend keeping your e- ticket code secret, as anyone with the code can use it.
Can I use my e-ticket for more than one trip?
No, this is technically not possible, as the system can only issue e-tickets that must be used in a single transaction, which means that even if they cover a higher value than the cost of the trip, you cannot use the remainder of the e-ticket. It is consumed in its entirety.
Do e-tickets expire?
Yes, they do. E-tickets earned through our loyalty scheme expire 3 months after being issued. Other e-tickets (e.g. from giveaways or other promotions) may have a different validity period. Under excruciating circumstances (such as a Government imposed lockdown due to Covid-19) we will certainly consider an extension of its validity.
Can multiple people earn points for a single trip?
We take a maximum of 4 passengers in our taxi. If several people travel together, among whom more than one is a member of this loyalty scheme, only one of them can be awarded a stamp on their account, even if the bill is split among passengers (which is possible when paying cash). It is up to the passengers to let the driver know to whose loyalty account the points for the ride should be awarded to.
Can an e-ticket be used by more than one person?
Yes, absolutely. You can invite up to three people to join the free ride on your e-ticket.
Can I have the value of my e-ticket paid out in cash?
No, this is not possible. Any e-ticket awarded to you can only be used for one single taxi ride up to the designated value of the e-ticket.
Can I use my e-ticket as part-payment for a higher value ride?
Yes, you can. When you book your ride, choose e-ticket as your preferred payment option. If your e-ticket does not fully cover the cost of your booking, you can pay the difference in cash directly to the driver.
Do I get a stamp when I use an e-ticket?
No, you do not get a stamp for a taxi ride which was paid for using an e-ticket, either fully or partially.
Does this scheme have a limited life time?
It is our intention to continue this scheme indefinitely. We do however reserve the right to change, temporarily suspend, or completely stop it for any reason. Should any of this happen in the future, we will do our utmost to inform all active members of the scheme with reasonable notice.
Can I use my e-ticket any time or day?
You can use your e-ticket during our operating hours only. Please go to our vacancy page to see when we operate. Note that operating hours and days can change as a result of other bookings we may receive.
Can my membership be terminated?
Your membership will be terminated if no stamps have been collected within 3 months from the date of joining. You will receive an email one week prior to termination which gives you the opportunity to request that your membership be extended.
